Cancer Research UK is taking over St Tydfil Shopping Centre on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th October as part of its fundraising activity for the charity’s nationwide Stand Up to Cancer 2019 event.
Between 10am and 4pm each day, #StandUpFest19 will see local musicians, including the popular Valleys band Mahogany Dog, and singers Erin Lancaster, Dan Elvis, Zoe Morgan and Kirk Marsh joined by school choirs to support the charity and perform live in the shopping centre.
To boost the fundraising, Cancer Research UK’s Merthyr team will also be hosting a bake sale.
Stand Up To Cancer aims to speed up life-saving cancer research and has set a target of ensuring three in four people in the UK survive their cancer by 2034.
Becky Jones, Store Manager of the Cancer Research UK shop in St Tydfil Shopping Centre, commented:
“The local community is extremely generous and supportive of the charity and we look forward to welcoming everyone along to the shopping centre to enjoy the entertainment.”
The charity will be continuing its fundraising at Merthyr Labour Club during the evening of Saturday 19th October. Tickets for the evening event cost £3 and are available to purchase at the Merthyr Cancer Research UK shop.
