CORONATION Gardens in Prestatyn have the seeds for success after community gardeners buddied up with a local homebuilder.
The Friends of Coronation Gardens successfully applied to Mission Green, a voluntary funding initiative offered by Castle Green Homes linked to the Sŵn y Môr development.
They received £500 to assist with their planting programme.
Treasurer Carol Holliday explained: “We applied to Mission Green as we wanted to replace the aged and untidy border plants in the centre flower bed. With the funding we’ve been able to purchase miniature lavender bushes which we’ve used to create a sustainable edging to the bed and protect the plants in the centre.”
Located on Station Road, Coronation Gardens is just over a mile from the new homes Castle Green is building on Gronant Road.
Sales director Sian Pitt said: “The Friends of Coronation Gardens are all volunteers who give their time to help ensure that this community space looks blooming lovely all year round. We were pleased to be able to support their efforts with a donation towards the cost of new plants.”
Through Mission Green Prestatyn, Castle Green has supported 11 good causes in the area.
The other local projects to receive funding though the voluntary initiative were Big Pool Wood volunteers, Cosy Craft Club, Denbighshire Play Rangers, Fins Swim School, Helping Homeless North Wales, Ysgol Clawdd Offa, Little Explorers and Friends, Prestatyn in Bloom, and Ysgol Gronant.
The Mission Green funding is in addition to the community investment Castle Green will make under a Section 106 agreement signed during the planning process.
