A Penarth care home set up candlelight family dinners for their residents’ families ahead of Christmas.
To make up for last year, the staff at MHA Morel Court decided to organise three dates in December for a maximum of three guests to join their respected family members for a three course meal prepared in house.
The home, which has 36 places for residential care is situated in landscaped grounds a short distance from the seafront and one mile south west of Penarth town centre.
After all social distancing protocols and risk assessments were complete, the dining room in the home was set up with tables spaced out so the events were conducted safely.
Mandy Jenkins, admin manager said: “All three days went along brilliantly and turned into beautiful evenings.
“The idea had a fantastic response from residents and their families and we managed to book more than 15 tables across the three days.
“The dining room was decorated to create an ambience, and it looked really nice.
“Family members had to book in advance and we made sure we booked the tables for them in a staggered time which allowed us to prepare the tables safely for the next booking.
“The staff, especially the cooks and chef deserve a lot of praise as they stayed behind and made sure the food was prepared to a very good standard.
“This tradition had to be cancelled due to covid last year, but we will hopefully continue with it going forward.”
