CARDIFF based hair extension supplier Milk + Blush has teamed up with the Matter of Trust for their Clean Wave Programme.
Each year millions of people worldwide seek to enhance their locks by investing in hair extensions, but when they’re no longer in use – the hair is just chucked away.
From then, the hair usually ends up in landfills, which produce high levels of greenhouse gasses, toxins and leachate that contribute to the process of global warming. The average UK household alone produces more than a tonne of waste every year.
To tackle this issue, leading hair extension supplier Milk + Blush has teamed up with eco-charity Matter of Trust in the USA for its Clean Wave Programme to promote the awareness and environmental impact of waste fibre recycling.
For its Hair Recycling Programme, Milk + Blush ask customers to return their unwanted hair extensions to its head office. From there, Milk + Blush ship them to Matter of Trust so the hair can be recycled and donated to the Clean Wave Programme.
Founded in 1999, The Clean Wave Programme works by collecting donations of hair from salons, dog groomers and farmers to use in storm drains to soak up major oil spills.
Hair has been known for its quality to absorb oil, so when turned into hair mats, it traps the debris to help clean up the water.
If you would like to take part in Milk + Blush’s hair recycling scheme and to help support the Clean Wave Campaign, simply tie the bundle of hair extensions together at the top and post back to us.
Nicole Petty, Head of Digital Marketing at Milk + Blush, commented: “We’re delighted to announce the launch of our new recycling programme in partnership with Matter of Trust and their Clean Wave Campaign.
“This is just one of the ways to show we are committed to improving our eco-friendly and sustainable practices.
“Through this new programme, we aim to help reduce hair waste and encourage others to do their bit for the planet too.”
